Santa Cruz is known as one of the best places to go to if you are a surfer. There are quite a lot of surf spots around Santa Cruz. If you visit this place to spend your surfing vacation, you can be sure that you will have a great time here.

Steamers Lane is one of the surf spots around Santa Cruz. It is also very popular among a lot of surfers because of the fantastic waves it provides. It is usually very crowded, especially during peak season and the waves here are considered to be high performance.

Another great surf spot in Santa Cruz is Cowells. This surf spot is very near steamers lane but only produces smaller waves. Although this is not what really expert surfers look for, this place is perfect for beginners to hone their skills in surfing.

Pleasure Point is another fantastic surf spot in Santa Cruz. You will also see that there are a series of breaks adjacent to this place and it produces a lot of good waves. This place is very popular among a lot of surfers especially for long boarders.

These three surf spots are just among the few of the very popular surf spots in and around Santa Cruz. If you travel a bit, you will find plenty more surf spots that will be able to satisfy your surfing needs.

Steamers Lane can be found near Santa Cruz Surf Museum. Here, you will be able to walk over to the bluff and be able to check out the waves as well as the people surfing in it. If you are patient, then this place is the perfect place to be. You need to keep in mind that Steamers Lane is very popular. Because of this, you will need to wait your turn to surf. Even though there is what you call the surfing etiquette about dropping in, you will see a lot of surfers dropping in on waves, which can be quite frustrating especially for the person who has priority on the wave. Steamers Lane is a crowded place to surf in but if you can handle the crowd, you will be able to have a lot of fun as this place is still an excellent place to surf in.

Pleasure Point is located just south of Santa Cruz. Here, you will see that the waves are perfect for long boards. If you are a long boarder, then you can be sure that you will be able to have a smooth ride with the waves produced here. It's really not as crowded as Steamers Lane, which means that you will have a chance to surf more.

Cowells is another fantastic area to surf in Santa Cruz. Located just north of Santa Cruz pier, you will see that this place is perfect for beginners. If you are familiar with those Waikiki slow rollers, then you will have an idea on what to expect when you surf here. If you are a beginner, then this place is the best place to surf on to improve your surfing skills. This is also a great place to learn how to surf as there are also quite a lot of beginners in the area taking lessons from surfing instructors.

These are the three very popular surf spots in and around Santa Cruz. Keep in mind that it can get pretty crowded especially during the weekends. However, if you can handle the crowd, then you will really be in for a treat when you surf in Santa Cruz.
